The standard work period is 48 hours per week and eight hours a day.
Female employees are entitled to 84 days of maternity leave. Employers are not required to provide paternity leave, but some collective agreements may provide paternity benefits.
Employees start with six weeks of paid leave per year. This increases with years of service.
Employees receive up to 52 weeks of leave for an illness or injury through Mexico’s social security system.
Employees are entitled to bonuses, called Aguinaldo or a Christmas bonus or a 13th month salary.
The is no notice period. Severance for redundancy is pay three-months’ salary, plus 12 days for each year of service. A seniority reward also may be required.
